About us

The hiSbe journey is a seven year story of ups and downs, triumphs and cock-ups and thrills and spills! We developed our business starting from scratch, so we’ve learned a hell of a lot on the way and we're up for sharing our story, our knowledge and our skills to help other people.

Amy, Ruth and Jack get loads of requests for help and information, so we sell our time and our brainpower. We enjoy supporting other people and it’s a great way to create another income for our business; every penny goes back in to hiSbe Food to help us run our pilot store and open new ones.

Here’s a list of the areas of expertise we've developed over the years. We are available to offer coaching, participate in discussions, lead workshops, or deliver presentations on any of these topics:

  • Social Enterprise in the UK
  • The personal journey of two sisters starting a social business
  • Building an award-winning and profitable Social Enterprise
  • Funding a start-up Social Enterprise
  • What makes a successful crowd-funding campaign and how to do it
  • Governance and leadership of a Social Enterprise
  • How we measure hiSbe’s social impact / environmental & economical contributions
  • Developing pioneering, mould-breaking business models
  • Creating shared managed staff teams / running a business with a flat hierarchy
  • Building a vision, starting with looking at how something is and asking yourself "is it how it Should be?"
  • Raising development / growth finance
  • Scaling up / replication of social businesses
  • Becoming “replication ready”
  • Embedding purpose in your company culture
  • Building sustainable supply chains and how we developed “the hiSbe Way” sourcing policy
  • Effectively branding and marketing a social business

Our Services

Yes, we can help with your dissertation! We typically get asked for interviews and information in the area of food ethics, sustainability and social enterprise. We get a lot of requests, so it makes sense for us to get groups of you together. For £20 you can book yourself onto one of our regular store tours. Amy, Ruth or Jack will walk you around the store, show you what we do and answer any questions you have. Click here to book!

One-to-one coaching and interviews

You can book a Skype call for £50 per hour with Amy, Ruth or Jack. Feel free to send us an idea of your enquiry and we’ll make sure you get to speak to the person who is best positioned to help you. Click here to book!

Informal talks

Amy, Ruth and Jack are available to speak at community groups and gatherings in our home town of Brighton and Hove. We want to be as accessible as possible to local community groups so we request only that you purchase some of our hiSbe gift vouchers - and we’ll leave the amount you buy up to you. Click here to book!

Presentations to a large audience

Amy, Ruth and Jack are available to present at national and international conferences. Our rates start at £500 for an event, depending on whether you’re a social enterprise organisation with less cash or a nicely cushioned corporate! We’ll also need you to cover our travel and accommodation expenses, if necessary. Click here to book!

Group coaching and workshops

Amy, Ruth and Jack have different areas of expertise and we can tailor coaching and workshop sessions to your needs. We each charge between £500-£800 for a session, depending on the timings, preparation required and nature of the work and the organisation. We’ll also need you to cover our travel and accommodation expenses, if necessary. Click here to book!

Student tours

Book yourself onto a tour by buying a ticket through PayPal. Tours will be hosted in turn by Amy, Ruth & Jack. Just show up at hiSbe on York Place with your PayPal confirmation to attend!

Choose your tour date

Q: Is the ticket refundable?

Unfortunately it's not, however we're happy for you to pass it on to a friend!

Q: What if I can't make it on the day?

You are more than welcome to come along to a later tour! Just email hello@hisbe.co.uk. to let us know as soon as possible.

Q: Are there other booking methods besides PayPal?

For the moment, the only way to book yourself on a tour is using PayPal.

Q: Can I just show up and pay on the day?

Yes. However, we try to keep groups small so every participant can enjoy quality time on their tour. If numbers are too high, you may be turned away. We highly recommend booking to avoid disappointment!
