How can we stop throwing cash away?

I just read on the Love Food Hate Waste website that in UK every month the average family throws away £50 of good food that was bought but not eaten… it’s a helluva thing to find out on Budget day when we all suddenly feel less well off!

It all mounts up… research done by WRAP (the Waste Resources Action Programme) shows that around a third of all the food we buy in the UK ends up being thrown away: that’s 6.7 million tonnes of food each year – and most of it is perfectly good to eat.

Apparently we all throw away more than we think we do. Some of the common reasons are buying too much in the first place, not storing things properly so they go off quickly, not eating things in time and cooking too much.

Love Food Hate Waste have some easy pointers on how to stop throwing money away!
