November 2024 · 2 minute read

South African comedian Trevor Noah sues doctor, hospital over alleged screwed up surgery that caused “serious personal injury” to the TV personality.

Noah’s lawyer Justin Blitz filed a lawsuit on 29 November against the orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Riley Williams III, as well as the hospital where the surgery was held, which states that the comedian suffered some “serious personal injury” which appears to be “permanent, severe and grievous”.

The lawsuit also stressed that Williams III did not inform the TV host of the risks associated with the surgery, as well as prescribe the necessary medication that Trevor needed post-surgery.

The lawsuit reads as follows: “A reasonably prudent person in the position of the plaintiff would have refused the treatment rendered, had they been so informed of the risks, hazards, and alternatives to the treatment rendered.”

According to a report from Law and Crime, The Daily Show host became a
patient of Dr. Riley J. Williams III on August 25, 2020 at the Hospital for
Special Surgery.

After validating the needs with the physician, on November 23,
2020 he underwent the surgery and came to a full crescendo his care with
Williams and the hospital, almost a year ago, on December 17, 2020.

Why is Trevor Noah suing his surgeon?

Noah, 37, was unhappy with the surgery and so has decided to file a lawsuit in the New York County Supreme Court suing the New York based doctor and the hospital he underwent the cosmetic surgery.
