Simona Halep is a Romanian professional tennis player who has achieved great success. She was born on September 27, 1991.

At the age of 17, Halep began competing in junior tournaments and entered the main draw as the ninth seed at the ‘Roland Garros Junior Championships.’ During the spring of that year, she played in many senior developmental ‘International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments and won two $10,000 tournaments in Bucharest.

She broke records to be rated among the world’s top 50 tennis players in 2012, then moved up to the top 20 in August 2013 and, eventually, to the top 10 in January 2014. 

She won six ‘WTA’ titles in 2013.

On October 9, 2017, she was named world No. for the first time by the ‘Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), and she earned the ‘WTA’s ‘Fan Favorite Singles Player award the same year. 

In 2017 and 2018, she was ranked No. at the end of the year by the ‘WTA.’ 

Halep moved up to eighth place in women’s tennis history after holding the No. ranking for total of 64 weeks. 

On 15 September 2021, Simona Halep married her boyfriend Toni Iuruc.

The couple tied the knot in a civil ceremony in Halep’s hometown of Constanta, Romania.

Toni Iuruc, Simona Halep’s new spouse, is a Macedonian businessman. He is rumored to be a millionaire and to own six businesses.

He has previously been married twice, both of which ended in divorce. Halep and Iuruc began dating in 2018.
