Stacey Abrams is an American politician, lawyer, author, and activist who served in the Georgia House of Representatives from 2006 to 2017.
Abrams was the first Black valedictorian at DeKalb’s Avondale High School.
She later graduated from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas in Austin with a Master of Public Affairs in public policy and got her J.D. from Yale Law School.
In 2010, she became the first woman to lead any party in the Georgia General Assembly, a position she held for the next seven years.
Following her unsuccessful run for governor of Georgia in 2018, she launched Fair Fight, a group that assisted in the registration of at least 800,000 new voters in Georgia ahead of the 2020 general election.
She has also authored eight romantic thriller books under the pen name Selena Montgomery, in addition to her political career.
