Olivia Newton-John passed away on August 8, 2022, at the age of 73.
She was a British-Australian singer, actress and activist who was a four-time Grammy Award winner.
Why did Olivia Newton-John die?
Olivia Newton-John was diagnosed with breast cancer after the release of her Back to Basics: The Essential Collection 1971–1992.
She recovered and later became an advocate for breast cancer research and other health issues. She was also a product spokesperson for the Liv-Kit, a breast self-examination product.
Her breast cancer returned in 2013, though this time, she privately battled it.
In May 2017, it was announced that her breast cancer had returned and metastasized to her lower back. These pains had initially been misdiagnosed as sciatica and this was her third bout with breast cancer.
The cancer then spread to her bones and progressed to stage IV. Due to this, she experienced a great deal of pain from the metastatic bone lesions and resorted to using cannabis oil to ease her pain.
On August 8, 2022, she succumbed to the sickness and passed away at her home in California.
