According to police and friends of the actor, Orson Bean, a 91-year-old veteran actor-comedian who was a mainstay of the Westside’s theater scene, was killed on February 2020, a night while crossing Venice Boulevard on his way to see a play.
Around 7:30 p.m., he was struck by a Honda Civic traveling west on Venice Boulevard near the Pacific Resident Theatre outside a marked crosswalk, according to Los Angeles police.
A Toyota Prius struck him a second time. Both drivers remained at the scene of the accident.
Orson Bean cause of death: What happened to Alley Mills husband?
Bean was on his way to meet his wife, Alley Mills, who was volunteering as an usher, to watch a production of Arthur Miller’s play All My Sons, according to Judith Borne, the theater’s publicist.
He’d parked on the other side of the street and was crossing by himself.
Borne, who was not present at the time but heard from others who were, said Bean fell after the first vehicle clipped him.
Then a second car struck him and failed to stop. Bean claimed she was dragged for about a quarter of a block.
