Betty White was an American actress, novelist, animal rights activist, television personality, and comedian.
She also worked as a producer having played an important role both behind and in front of the camera in the early days of the medium’s existence.
She was the first female to produce a sitcom, earning her the honorary title of ‘Mayor of Hollywood.’ Betty White won several honors for her roles in comedies, game shows, and comedic television series. This of course gave her the legendary status we are highlighting today.
Betty White spouse: Who was her favorite; Allen Ludden, Lane Allen or Dick Barker?
Betty White was married three times. She married Dick Barker, a US armed forces pilot, in 1945, but the marriage was short-lived. Following that, she married Lane Allen, a Hollywood agent, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1949.
She married TV anchor and personality Allen Ludden in 1963. Betty always adored her third husband, Ludden, and always spoke fondly about him.
Betty decided not to marry again after Allen died of cancer in 1981. She subsequently stated that she only delayed marrying Allen because she did not want to move from California to New York.
When asked by Joy Behar in 2011 to choose one decision she’d make again, Betty said:
“Get married to Allen Ludden. There are no two ways about it. He had a unique personality.”
In 2011, she told Anderson Cooper, “I had the love of my life.” I certainly did. Allen Ludden…. “Who needs the rest when you’ve got the best?”
Betty died at the age of 99.
