Brittney Yevette Griner is an American professional basketball player with the Women’s National Basketball Association’s Phoenix Mercury.
Griner attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where she majored in basketball. She is the lone NCAA athlete to have scored 2,000 points and blocked 500 shots. In 2012, the three-time All-American was voted AP Player of the Year, making him the most important player in the Final Four.
Rivals ranked Griner the nation’s top high school women’s basketball player in 2009. Griner was named to the McDonald’s All-American team in 2009. She won the simplest feminine jock spot Award in 2012.
Griner was recently a member of the USA Olympic Women’s team, where she played a key role in their success. Griner got an endorsement agreement with Nike in 2013.
