Earlier this year, Avenatti was convicted of aggravated identity fraud and wire fraud. On Thursday (June 2), the disgraced attorney was sentenced to four years in prison for defrauding his former client, adult film star Stormy Daniels, of $300,000 dollars.
What happened to Attorney Avenatti? How long will he go to jail?
He was convicted earlier this year in federal court in New York of aggravated identity fraud and wire fraud. He faced a mandatory two-year prison sentence for the former and up to 20 years for the latter.
Of the four years, 18 months will be served concurrently with the two and a half years he was sentenced to in a separate case for attempting to extort $25 million dollars from Nike.
