Tapio Pulkkanen (born 21 May 1990) is a professional golfer from Finland who competes on the European Tour. He won the Nordic Golf League in 2015 and the Challenge Tour Order of Merit in 2017.
He is well-known for sporting a trilby hat.
He lives in Helsinki currently.
Pulkkanen went professional in early 2013 and finished second in his first Challenge Tour tournament, the Challenge de Madrid, in April. The rest of 2013 and 2014 were a letdown, with the highest result of 34th place.
In 2015, Pulkkanen competed in the Nordic Golf League, winning five tournaments and topping the Order of Merit. Returning to the Challenge Tour in 2016 was another letdown, with the best placing of 30th.
His 2017 Challenge Tour season began with a second-place result in the Turkish Airlines Challenge, followed by a second-place finish in the D+D Real Czech Challenge. Later that year, he won his first tournament, the Kazakhstan Open, in a playoff with Chase Koepka.
Pulkkanen finished third in the Joburg Open in December 2017, tied with Shaun Norris. The tournament was part of the Open Qualifying Series, and three spots for the 2018 Open Championship were available.
Norris was given the entrance because he had a better global rating than Pulkkanen, 192 to 197. Later in the 2017-18 European Tour season, Pulkkanen won his largest payday at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland, when he finished fourth for €208,728 at the three championship courses of Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, and St Andrews Old Course.
Pulkkanen is trained by Tommi Nousiainen at Sportyard International in Stockholm, Sweden, and his agent is Johan Elliot. Callaway is his primary equipment sponsor.
