Richard Cordrey was a former Delaware State Finance Director and longtime State Senator. Richard had a long career in Delaware politics, serving First State residents for nearly three decades in Dover.

Richard was born in the year 1933. He was first elected to the State House in 1970. He served one two-year term in the state house before being elected to the State Senate in 1972.

Richard Cordrey died at the age of 88 on Sunday, August 21, 2022. His passing has been publicly announced by Watson Funeral Home – Millsboro in Millsboro, DE, however, the cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Richard served as Senate President Pro Temp from 1977 until 1996 when he retired. He is considered the longest-serving President Pro Tempore in the history of the Delaware State Senate.
