Cricket legend Shane Warne, 52, died unexpectedly after a massive heart attack while on vacation in Thailand, authorities said after four friends who were with him fought for 20 minutes to save his life.
The best leg spinner in history and an Australian megastar cricketer turned pundit and businessman, was found unconscious in a villa in the Koh Samui resort earlier today.
Shane Warne disease, heart attack, what killed him
Warne was staying in the villa with four friends, according to Thai police, and when one of them tried to wake him up for dinner at around 5 p.m. local time today, he was found unresponsive.
He was taken to the Thai International Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, after his pals attempted CPR on him for around 20 minutes, according to officers.
Warne’s manager announced his death independently, stating the father-of-three could not be resurrected.
Warne’s death came barely 12 hours after he expressed his sorrow and grief for the death of Australia’s great wicketkeeper Rodney Marsh, who died of a heart arrest on Friday, March 4, 2022.
Shane Warne has had issues with drugs in the past.
In 2003, he was banned from the sport for testing positive for a prohibited substance.
After his ban, he was named Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World for the year 2004 in the 2005 Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack.
