Bob Welch was an American musician who was a member of Fleetwood Mac from 1971 to 1974.

Bob Welch was born into a showbiz family and his father Robert L. Welch Sr., was a producer and screenwriter at Paramount Pictures.

His mother, Templeton Fox, was a singer and actress who worked with Orson Welles’ Mercury Theatre in Chicago.

During his mid-1980s career slump, he turned to drugs and became addicted to cocaine and heroin, and was hospitalized for detox in the spring of 1985.

After he was introduced to Wendy Armistead and they got married in December 1985 and moved to Phoenix, Arizona. They later moved to Nashville, Tennessee.

In the three months prior to his death, he underwent spinal surgery, and was still in considerable pain, despite taking the medication pregabalin (Lyrica) for six weeks.

He later died by suicide on  June 7, 2012, by shooting himself in his Nashville home.
