As a three-star recruit, he had offers from North Texas, Northern Illinois, Rice, Texas State, Tulsa, Texas Christian University, and UTSA. He committed to Texas Christian University on June 6, 2014. and later signed with them on February 5, 2015.

In the 2020 NFL Draft, he was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round with the 31st overall pick. He was later named the fourth cornerback.

He was indicted for domestic violence but was later released on August 3, 2021. Following this, he was dropped from the Minnesota Vikings.

On March 16, 2022, he signed with the Arizona Cardinals.
