A retired police officer at the Corpus Christi Police Department, Ed Kearney has died. He died on Friday, February 18, 2022.
Ed Kearney served in the police service for three decades (32 years to be precise) and spent the last part of his years in the service with the Corpus Christi Police Department.
He was hired in August of 1988 and after completing the Police Academy and Field Training phase, Ed served the citizens of Corpus Christi as a patrol officer in the patrol division. Ed has been awarded a Life-Saving Award.
He retired on February 20, 2021, just a year ago.
The Corpus Christi Police Department shared a heartfelt message on his retirement day via Facebook.
“After 32-years with the Corpus Christi Police Department, Senior Officer Edward Kearney, is retiring,” the Corpus Christi Police Department said in the Facebook post.
“Ed is a highly dedicated officer and well respected within the Corpus Christi Police Department. Thank you for your years of service to the Department and to the citizens of Corpus Christi. Ed you will be greatly missed by us all, enjoy your retirement,” the statement added.

Ed Kearney cause of death
According to the Corpus Christi Crónica website, Ed Kearney was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at Cole Park on Friday.
“The community should rally together to support our law enforcement who have worked hard during difficult times,” the website said.
