Her parents were Dorota and Tomasz. Her father Tomasz was a former professional rower who competed in the men’s quadruple sculls event at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Her Dorota mother was an orthodontist.
She started as a swimmer before entering actively into tennis.
She made her professional debut three years later after briefly competing on the ITF junior circuit in 2013.
She won her first three championships when she was just 15 years old.
She made her WTA Tour debut in 2019 and reached her maiden tour-level final at the Ladies Open Lugano that year.
She became the first Polish player to win a Grand Slam singles championship, and at 19 years old, she also became the tournament’s youngest singles champion since Rafael Nadal in 2005.
