Alan Blaikley was an English songwriter and composer who died on July 5, 2022.

He was best known for co-writing a string of worldwide songs with Ken Howard in the 1960s and 1970s, including the UK number ones “Have I the Right?” and “The Legend of Xanadu.”

At the same time, Blaikley worked as a freelancer, writing and narrating various BBC radio shows, including Writing for Children, in which he interviewed C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, and Enid Blyton.

Blaikley was a trainee producer with the BBC TV Talks Department from 1963 to 1964, working on the daily current affairs show Tonight.

Blaikley has gone on to secure over 3 million from his musical journey.

Earlier, as a choir boy at St-Mary-at-Finchley, he realized that, while his voice was not exceptional, he did have a talent for writing catchy tunes. He considers his time as a chorister to be his most important musical education.
