Olivia Newton-John was an accomplished Australian singer, actress, and activist. Brinley Newton-John and Irene Helene both Welsh were the parents of Newton-John, who was born on September 26, 1948, in Cambridge.
Prior to World War II, her Jewish maternal grandfather, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist Max Born, emigrated to Britain along with his wife and children. Through her, comedian Ben Elton’s third cousin was her maternal grandmother, who also had paternal Jewish descent.
Did Olivia Newton-John have a boyfriend that went missing?
Patrick Kim McDermott, a cameraman Newton-John dated occasionally went missing. On June 30, 2005, McDermott vanished aboard a fishing charter boat outside San Pedro, Los Angeles.
His wallet, car keys, and passport were among the items that were discovered on the boat.
On September 15, 2006, a Coast Guard investigation concluded that there was “no indication of criminal conduct, suicide, accident, or hoax in the disappearance” of McDermott.
On October 30, 2008, the U.S. Coast Guard concluded a separate marine safety inquiry investigating the actions of the fishing vessel. Both investigations came to the same conclusion: McDermott was probably lost at sea.
So many conspiracy theories were peddled when he went missing. Investigators think he vanished to escape debts, including an $8000 child support debt to his ex-wife.
Dateline NBC went undercover to search for him in Mexico in 2009 because they thought he might be sheltering there. FindPatrickMcDermott.com was made specifically to capture McDermott, and every visitor’s site address was recorded and mapped.
He has still not been found till date.
