Mark Deetjen, who helped create Fremantle’s game-show channel Buzzr and was recently appointed to Executive Vice President of Global Channels, has died.
He died on January 24, 2022 at the age of 50.
Deetjen survived a heart attack in 2020 after undergoing a simultaneous kidney and pancreas transplant in 2013 to treat her Type I diabetes.
Deetjen joined Fremantle in 2015 as SVP Programming and Operations at Buzzr, a FAST network specialized to vintage game shows, and then rose through the ranks to become general manager.
He assisted in expanding Buzzr’s connections with cable operators and Dish Network, as well as getting Buzzr into OTT/FAST platforms.
Buzzr is now available in over 100 broadcast markets, including all 30 DMAs in the United States.
