Vincent Edward Scully, the American sportscaster, has passed away at the ripe old age of 94.

Vin Scully was born in the Bronx to Vincent Aloysius Scully and Bridget Scully.

He grew up in Washington Heights, Manhattan, and is of Irish descent.

His father, Vincent Aloysius, was a silk salesman and his mother, Bridget, was a homemaker.

When he was four years old, his father died from pneumonia.

After his father’s death, his mother remarried an English merchant sailor named Allan Reeve, whom he considered his father since he did not get the chance to get to know his biological father.

He attended Fordham Preparatory School in the Bronx. During this time, he delivered beer and mail, pushed garment racks, and cleaned silver in the basement of the Pennsylvania Hotel in New York City.
