Peter Rey Aguilar is an American politician who represents California’s 31st congressional district in the United States.

He was the Democratic Party’s mayor of Redlands, California, from 2010 to 2014, as well as the head of the League of California Cities Inland Empire Division. From 2006 until his election to Congress, Aguilar served on the Redlands City Council.

Aguilar is the highest-ranking Latino in Congress and the vice-chair of the House Democratic Caucus.

Following the 2016 Orlando nightclub tragedy, Aguilar took part in a sit-in in the United States House of Representatives to voice support for gun control measures.
