Dick Versace was a former American NBA coach and executive.

He was also the first American of Puerto Rican descent to have coached a National Basketball Association team.

Versace coached the Pacers for portions of three seasons between 1988 and 1991. He was sacked after 25 games in the 1990-91 season after taking over for 19 games in the 1988-89 season.

Versace, on the other hand, helped the team finish 42-40 and make the playoffs for only the third time in the franchise’s history in his first full season with the team in 1989-90.

Versace previously coached at Bradley University from 1978 to 1986. His total record was 156-88 during his time there.

During his career, the squad made the NCAA tournament twice, but only made it to the second round in 1986. They also won the NIT in 1982. Bradley and Versace also won three Missouri Valley Conference crowns and two MVC tournament victories.

He was 81 years old at the time of his death.
