Despite stating that his father, Apostolos Tsitsipas, is still his coach, Stefanos Tsitsipas has recruited former ATP player Thomas Enqvist to his coaching staff.
Late in 2017, Tsitsipas defeated his opponent on the ATP Tour for the first time. The following year, he swiftly rose to the ATP rankings. In 2018, he competed in three tour-level finals and scored his maiden victory at the Stockholm Open. He broke the record for the youngest player to beat four top 10 opponents in a single event when he finished second in the 2018 Canadian Open.
Tsitsipas has consistently ranked among the top 10 tennis players in the world since capping that season with an exhibition victory at the Next Gen ATP Finals. He won the 2021 Monte-Carlo Masters, his first Masters 1000 competition, and successfully defended his title the following year. The 2019 Greek Male Athlete of the Year title went to Tsitsipas.
At the age of six, Tsitsipas started taking lessons at the Tennis Club Glyfada outside of Athens, where he has since maintained his training.
His father has always been his main trainer, and in order to better instruct his kids, he officially studied tennis teaching at the University of Athens.
Tsitsipas also started training at the Patrick Mouratoglou Academy in 2015; he split this time between France and Greece.
