Bill de Blasio is an American politician who served as New York City’s 109th mayor from 2014 to 2021.
He was a member of the Democratic Party and served as New York City Public Advocate from 2010 to 2013.
De Blasio was born in Manhattan and spent most of his childhood in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Before working as a campaign manager for Charles Rangel and Hillary Clinton, he graduated from New York University and Columbia University.
De Blasio began his political career as a member of the New York City Council, representing Brooklyn’s 39th district from 2002 to 2009.
He was elected mayor of New York City in 2013 after serving one term as public advocate, and he was re-elected in 2017.
