American professional basketball player for the Phoenix Mercury of the Women’s National Basketball Association, Brittney Griner has been sentenced to nine years in prison in Russia for sending cannabis vape pens into the country. She was arrested at Moscow Airport in February and was found guilty of drug smuggling on Thursday, August 4, 2022.
In an interview with SI.com in 2013, Griner publicly came out as a lesbian and also revealed that she was bullied as a child. According to her, it was hard being picked on for being different.
