Mark Shlanta was an American SDN Communications CEO.
Shlanta was CEO for 21 years until retiring late last year. The corporation claimed in a statement that during his leadership, it transformed the technological and communications environment of South Dakota.
During Shlanta’s term, he built South Dakota’s fibre optic network to 50,000 miles and extended it into eight neighbouring states.
That network encompasses 80% of South Dakota’s territory, with 17 member/owner firms serving citizens and businesses in their individual regions, and SDN resells that network to link large-scale corporations with various office sites and cell towers across the Northern Plains.
He was 57 at the time of his death.

Shlanta was an active member of the Sioux Falls community. He served on the boards of Avera Health, Bishop O’Gorman Catholic Schools and South Dakota Public Broadcasting as well as Forward Sioux Falls.
