She went to Shadow mountain high school. Her father was a drummer for the Mamas and the Papas band. Her mother was a Pilates instructor.

Ashley auditioned to join the Pussycat dolls after six months of moving from Phoenix to Los Angeles. She was part of the group together with Robin Antin, Carmit Bachar, Cyia Batten, Kasey Campbell, Kimberly Wyatt, and Jessica Sutta after the group evovled to a pop music recording group.
