Candy Palmate was a well-known Canadian comedian born in 1968 in Point La Nim, New Brunswick, who established and scripted, The Candy Show.

Candy Palmater attended St. Thomas University in Fredericton following high school, followed by Maritime Business College for a legal secretary programme.

She was inspired by Donald Marshall Jr.’s legal missteps and enrolled at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to study law at the Schulich School of Law, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1999.

She was the first Aboriginal law student in Canada to be valedictorian of her graduating class and the president of the Dalhousie Aboriginal Law Students Association.

She began working for the now-defunct law firm Patterson Palmer Hunt Murphy, but quickly realised she didn’t want to pursue corporate law, so she left and went to work for the Nova Scotia Department of Education.

In the summer of 2016, Palmater presented the daily interview series ‘The Candy Palmater’Show on CBC Radio One. Her career skyrocketed immensely from there.
