Petro Oleksiyovych Poroshenko is a Ukrainian businessman and politician.
He was born on September 26, 1965.
He has served as the country’s fifth president from 2014 to 2019.
Poroshenko was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2009 to 2010, and Minister of Trade and Economic Development from 2012 to 2014.
From 2007 until 2012, he served as President of Ukraine’s National Bank Council.
Outside of government, Poroshenko is a well-known Ukrainian magnate with a rich career in asset acquisition and development.
His most well-known companies are Roshen, a large-scale candy firm and the TV news station 5 kanal, which he sold in November 2021.
Poroshenko led the country through the first phase of the Russo-Ukrainian War, driving insurgent rebel troops further into the Donbas Region.
He initiated the process of integration into the European Union by signing the Association Agreement between the European Union and Ukraine.
