American NBA star, Lusia Harris made history in 1977 after dominating in her college days at Delta State died in Mississippi at the age of 66.

After three titles with nearly 30 points per game and 20 rebounds in the Finals, catching the attention of the New Orleans Jazz was pretty easy for her hence becoming the only woman to achieve this feat.

Orleans chose her in the seventh round, 137th overall.

Harris, however, was unable to play because she was pregnant at the time, and she eventually settled into a career as a teacher.

Her achievements were however referred to for years.

The Minter City, Mississippi native was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992 and was a member of the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame’s inaugural class in 1999.

According to the Harris’ University, she still holds the career records for Delta State in points (2,891) and rebounds (1,662).

The star’s family released a statement about her death without revealing the cause of death. They have not yet revealed plans about her upcoming funeral.
