Tanya Kersey, founder of the Hollywood Black Film Festival has passed on unexpectedly at the age of 61.

Kersey was the founder and CEO of the entertainment industry trade publication Black Talent News and its website BlackTalentNews.com before founding the film festival in 1998 and serving as its executive director.

She had previously worked as an entertainment journalist for a number of publications.
