Clayton Echard was born on April 29, 1993, in Eureka, Missouri, to  Brian and Kelly Echard. He has two brothers named Nate and Patrick.

Though he played football in high school, he did not receive any athletic scholarship offers. He enrolled at the University of Missouri.
