She was previously signed to K-Tel from 1987 to 1990, and then Ruthless Records for two years before joining Death Row Records in 1990, where he has worked with Tupac, Snoop Dogg, and Dr. Dre.

The cover song reached number 16 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs chart and number 72 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

She was labeled The First Lady of Death Row Records, and she called herself thus.
