Bo Hoag was born in Columbus, Ohio on July 25, 1988. He graduated from Ohio State University in 2011 and turned pro in the aforementioned year.

He was named Ohio Player of the Year in 2006. Hoag earned his PGA Tour card by winning the 2019 WinCo Foods Portland Open on the Korn Ferry Tour. After attending Ohio State University and spending a season on the PGA Canada Tour.
