Carlin helped build his early career and served as line producer on most of his early HBO performances, including “Carlin at Carnegie” and “Carlin on Campus.” She married her husband in 1961.

Carlin worked in cable production during the 1970s and 1980s, freelancing as an HBO talent coordinator on 17 comedy specials. Garry Shandling, Paul Reubens, Harry Anderson, and Howie Mandel are among the comedians she is credited with discovering.

Carlin founded the Parkview Stage Co. in 1986, a nonprofit equity waiver theater based in the Park Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles that aided the careers of up-and-coming comedians.

“Short Eyes” and “Joey” were among the productions she oversaw.

“She has inspired countless others to be their best and to realize their dreams,” George said of his wife.
