Bianca Vanessa Andreescu was born in the Canadian city of Mississauga. Her parents immigrated to Canada from Romania in 1994. She began playing tennis at the age of seven and began serious training at the age of twelve.
Andreescu was ranked third in the world at the end of 2015. She won her first three singles and one doubles title in 2014. Her final Grade A title before turning professional was the 16-and-under Orange Bowl. Andreescu was the top seed in both singles and doubles at the Australian Open. She had to withdraw from both events due to left adductor and right ankle injuries, as well as a stress fracture in her foot. Nonetheless, she and Carson Branstine won the Grand Slam doubles titles.
Bianca Andreescu coach: Who is Sven Groeneveld?
Groeneveld is currently the coach of Bianca. A former pro tennis player himself, Groeneveld has vast experience in the sport and in coaching.
The Dutchman didn’t enjoy much success as a player but has certainly excelled as a coach judging by the number of successful players he has handled before Bianca.
His former charges include the likes of tennis greats Maria Sharapova and Anna Ivanovich just to name a few.
