Dawn Michelle Staley is a South Carolina Gamecocks head coach and a member of the American Basketball Hall of Fame.

Staley earned three Olympic gold medals as a player for Team USA and then as the head coach of another gold-medal-winning team for the United States.

She was hired as head coach of women’s basketball at the University of South Carolina on May 7, 2008.

South Carolina was created from the ground up by Staley. She improved her program’s record every year throughout her first six seasons as head coach, winning the SEC in 2013–2014.

During her final season here, she was voted national high school player of the year.

She then attended the University of Virginia, where she earned a degree in Rhetoric and Communication Studies.

Dawn coached her team to three Final Fours, one National Championship game, and four NCAA Tournaments during her stay here.

As a result, she was voted ACC female athlete of the year in 1991 and 1992, as well as national player of the year.
