Unrelated to the Daraprim scandal, Shkreli was indicted and convicted in federal court in 2017 on two charges of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to conduct securities fraud.
He was sentenced to seven years in federal prison and penalties of up to $7.4 million. In the civil case, he was fined an additional $64.6 million, which would be distributed to victims around the country.
