Caleb Swanigan was a former Purdue basketball standout and NBA player who died on June 21, 2022.
The Portland Trail Blazers chose him 26th in the first round of the 2017 NBA Draft, and he played three seasons in the league.

Swanigan told ESPN in 2017 that as a youngster, he lived in five different homeless shelters and attended 13 different schools before the age of 13.

He was adopted by AAU coach Roosevelt Barnes in eighth grade, and he trained him through high school at Homestead High in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was crowned Indiana Mr. Basketball, won a state championship, and was a McDonald’s All-American while there.
Swanigan was a standout for Purdue in 2016-17, earning Big Ten Player of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten honors.
