On June 10, 2020, the Woodcock and Ryan families confirmed that the human remains discovered on Chad’s property were those of Tylee and J.J. This discovery was officially confirmed by Rexburg police on June 13.

Their children were no longer considered missing, and the investigation now focused on determining what happened to them.

Tylee Ryan autopsy report: What was the cause of death for Tylee and JJ?

Court documents released Friday evening detail the horrific circumstances surrounding the discovery of Joshua “JJ” Vallow and Tylee Ryan in Chad Daybell’s backyard. Tylee was dismembered and burned, while JJ was wrapped in plastic and bound with duct tape.

The details are contained in an 11-page probable cause affidavit unsealed by Magistrate Judge Faren Eddins on Friday. The documents concern Chad Daybell, who is accused of concealing or destroying evidence on two felony counts.

On June 9, he was arrested and booked into the Fremont County Jail after investigators excavated two sections of his Salem property and discovered Tylee and JJ’s remains.

Lori Vallow Daybell, the children’s mother, is being held in the Madison County Jail on charges of child abandonment and three misdemeanors.

Tylee Ryan was last seen alive on September 8, 2019, while visiting Yellowstone National Park with their mother, uncle, Alex Cox, and JJ. Rexburg police released photos of the trip earlier this year.
