Today (Monday, January 17, 2022) marks the birthday of one of America’s most iconic figures in Hollywood, Betty White.

On White’s birthday, a Google search for her name will unlock a special animated Easter egg with rose petals fluttering down over the Search results page, along with a message that says “Thank you for being a friend” — the title of “The Golden Girls” theme song. Betty White was an actress, novelist, animal rights activist, television personality, and comedienne from the United States.

She also worked as a producer and is regarded as one of the pioneers of American television, having played an important role both behind and in front of the camera in the early days of the medium’s existence.

She was the first female to produce a sitcom, earning her the honorary title of ‘Mayor of Hollywood.’

Betty White won several honors for her work in comedies, game shows, and comedic television series. She rose to fame as the ‘First Lady of Game Programs,’ because to her appearances on game shows.

Her career as a singer, actress, host, and producer spans 80 years, making her the longest-serving entertainer in history.

In the midst of her illustrious career, she married TV anchor and personality Allen Ludden in 1963, and the couple remained together until his death in 1981.

She was named a ‘Kentucky Colonel,’ the highest distinction bestowed by the ‘Commonwealth of Kentucky.’

As an animal enthusiast, White donated to several animal welfare organizations, including the ‘Los Angeles Zoo Commission’ and ‘The Morris Animal Foundation.’
