When the squad for the highly anticipated SheBelieves Cup in 2022 was released by the United States Women’s National Team in January many well-known faces from the recent decade, including Megan Rapinoe, were left out.

Megan Rapinoe, Alex Morgan, Tobin Heath, Julie Ertz, and Christen Press, all standout performers in the women’s World Cup and Olympics, were not included to the team.

Is Megan Rapinoe still playing soccer? Has Megan Rapinoe retired?

Megan Rapinoe isn’t ready to hang up her boots yet.

The USWNT legend is sticking around for at least one more season, following in the footsteps of her fiancée.

Rapinoe has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the OL Reign of the NWSL.

Rapinoe was expected to retire after the Olympics last summer, especially when Carli Lloyd announced her retirement after the 2021 NWSL season.

Rapinoe will be 38 years old when the next big international competition, the Women’s World Cup, takes place in 2023.

We can only presume that by resigning, she intends to continue playing for the USWNT unless she makes an announcement to the contrary.

Why did Megan Rapinoe leave roster?

Several sources suggested that several of the veterans left off the list were removed for reasons other than soccer, particularly for Rapinoe.
