Addison Mitchell McConnell III is an American politician born on February 20, 1942 (age 80 years) in Sheffield, Alabama, United States. He is the son of Julia McConnell and Addison Mitchell McConnell.

He is a retired attorney serving as Senate minority leader since 2021 and as the senior United States senator from Kentucky, a seat he has held since 1985.

He is a member of the Republican Party.

He is married twice to Sherrill Redmon (1968–1980), Elaine Chao (m. 1993), and has three children.
