Patrick Lyoya, an unarmed civilian, died tragically when he was shot by a policeman.
Following the publication of the recordings, several hundred demonstrators gathered outside the Grand Rapids Police Department on Wednesday, April 13th with some yelling and shouting from behind barriers.
The group asked that the identity of the officer involved in the shooting be made public.
Citing a desire for openness, the city’s new police chief, Eric Winstrom, released four recordings on Wednesday, including vital evidence of the incident captured by a passenger in Lyoya’s car that rainy morning.
