Kent Dana, who has been the voice and face of Valley news for the past 30 years, has died at the age of 80.
During his radio career, Dana reported from the Oklahoma City terror bombing site, the Los Angeles riots, and Barry Goldwater’s living room.
He will be remembered, however, for being a mainstay at the anchor desk during a period when local television news ruled the ratings.
Kent was the third of seven children raised in a modest house on Central Avenue and Thomas Road, now the historic Willo District.
In the 1940s and 1950s, Phoenix was still defining its identity.
