Pro boxer killed in possible road rage on Christmas Eve

Danny Kelly Jr., a professional boxer who last fought in 2019, was shot and died on Christmas Eve in what investigators in Maryland suspect was a road rage incident.

According to Prince George’s County Police, the 30-year-old and his family were all on their way to a Xmas gathering when the suspect’s car drew up next to Kelly family vehicle and started firing.

The gunshot does not appear to have injured his girlfriend or three children.

Kelly was seriously injured in the driver’s seat of his vehicle by responding authorities, and he was subsequently declared dead at a hospital.  According to cops, detectives are reviewing the fatal occurrence as a probable road rage incident and are seeking to uncover suspects and their vehicle.

Acting Major David Blazer of the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Major Crimes Division stated sadly that “Mr. Kelly’s family and friends have suffered a sad loss. The police department is offering a $25,000 prize for information leading to an arrest and indictment in connection with the incident.

Kelly was from Clinton, Maryland, and was well-known in the state’s boxing circles.
