Three-time PGA Tour champion Bart Bryant was killed in an automobile accident on Tuesday, according to a statement released by the PGA Tour this week.

On Wednesday, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan issued a statement announcing Bryant’s death. The circumstances of his death were not immediately disclosed.

Bryant’s funeral is yet to be held but detailed information is not known.

Bryant won his first PGA Tour tournament at the age of 41, in his 187th start at the 2004 Valero Texas Open. Bryant won the Memorial Tournament and the Tour Championship in 2005, defeating Tiger Woods in both events. Bryant’s victory in the Tour Championship was significant because Wood had won two majors that year.
