Meet Ferdinand Melnyk and Vera Melnyk

Eugene Melnyk was Canadian businessman and chairman of the Ottawa Senators of  the National Hockey League and the Belleville Senators of the American Hockey League.

He was also known for his philanthropic qualities and as the owner of Biovail Corp.

He purchased the Senators and the Canadian Tire Centre for $130 million.

He was a die-hard hockey enthusiast who really wanted to bring the Stanley Cup back to Ottawa.

He also owned the known in the harness racing sector thereby owing almost 500 horses before retiring from the sport in 2013.

In 2017, he was inducted into Canada’s Horse Racing Hall of Fame.

Melnyk relished competition, he relished combat, and he relished victory.
