Why did Emma Raducanu’s parents move to England?

Emma was born in Canada to a Romanian father, Ian, and a Chinese mother, Renee. The two work in the same financial institution and decided to relocate to the UK when their daughter was just two years old.

The reason behind their move hasn’t been widely spoken about, but it was reported that her parents thought it would be an exciting place for her to grow up.

Emma made her WTA Tour debut in June 2021. With a wildcard entry at Wimbledon, ranked outside the top 300, she reached the fourth round in her first major tournament.
